The struggle is real people. It is real. I know going two weeks without posting on a blog is like sounding a death knell, but I just didn't have the capacity to pull a blog post together.
We had an offer from family a really long way away that if we could get there, we could have a great family vacation staying with them. We did get there and had a wonderful time visiting, playing board games, swimming at the lake, but it was not easy. We had car trouble, our power went off while we were gone and ended up having to throw everything in the fridge and freezer away, and now the bank account is EMPTY. In addition, our nephew had a graduation party which required a card with some $, and we have a birthday this week.
For a very short time, we were able to relax. Yes, we slept on couches and the floor and yes we didn't do anything that week that cost any money at all, but I didn't have to worry about a single meal, other than helping to prepare it. We washed all our clothes before we came home so no worries about giant piles of laundry. We laughed and talked late into the night. It felt so glorious and must be what vacationing for the rich feels like. I am so grateful to our family for hosting us, loving on us, feeding us and encouraging us. Maybe someday I will get the chance to reciprocate.
That last statement, the hope that someday I can reciprocate is what is troubling me this week. I don't know how we would have done the same for them. Careful planning and maybe using resources like a food pantry or something might make it possible to feed them, but I don't know how comfortable I would be letting someone in to see how we live or the struggles we have. I have been thinking about that all week, and it has been affecting my thoughts for the blog, among other things.
If you are still reading at this point, I hope that as you have spent time on my blog, you have found something helpful or inspiring. Here is our menu plan for the rest of this week, and I promise to have more regular posts up. Have a good week!
