Sorry I am late again! Easter put me in a busy place, I hope you had a great one! I know I haven't been writing as much as I usually do, but we are dealing with a lot here. I know it is too late to give ideas for this year for Easter, but the prices of everything caused us to do a drastic change in how we like to celebrate Easter here. For one, we scaled way back what we did for the kids as far as baskets were concerned. Instead of doing baskets, we decided to hold a series of Minute to Win it games with candy as the prizes. It was so much fun! We made a change out of necessity, but probably won't go back to the way we used to do things. Over all, the kids ended up with a lot less candy, but they will never forget the sight of their mom, blindfolded, with a mixing soon in her mouth, trying to move Easter eggs from a bucket of water into a bowl! We got several of our games from the Benson Brothers Facebook page. They had some cute things! I am sorry I didn't have my ideas up before Easter, but I was really flying by the seat of my pants. Thank God for the internet!
I did use some of my grocery budget last week to stock up on butter. I got it from Kroger for $2.49 a pound. I hadn't seen it for that price in a long time. The Easter baking sales were not as good as they have been in the past and I guess I really just needs to come to terms that it really isn't ever going to happen. Our diet has changed so much since I started this blog, and my meat eaters complained and complained, but they have adjusted and honestly understand now. One of the things I am really missing though, that has stopped going on sale as often is cheese. As soon as it goes on sale, I buy the limit and throw the shredded cheese in the freezer. It freezes really well in it's original packaging making it super duper simple, it just isn't going on sale as often as it used to, so it is another thing we are cutting back on.
What kind of changes have you been making to the way you eat?
Here is our menu plan for the week. I got rice and cabbage for a pretty good price, so they are featured in a couple of recipes this week, but in different ways so it doesn't feel too repetitive. Hope you are able to stick to your menu planning and have a great week!
