All this talk about tariffs is making me bonkers! We're going to have tariffs and everything is going to cost a fortune, but then Psych! Nevermind, but we still might have tariffs. For pete's sake. I have seen prices rise some, but not exponentially, yet anyway. My plan is to stock up on one or two extra shelf stable items as I can. I am making my menu plan, then adding a couple extra things. This week it will be tomato paste. It seems like I keep hearing tomatoes might go really high. I don't know if this small step every week is going to help or not, but it sure won't hurt.
My local IGA had 12 ounce single variety bags of frozen vegetables for $1 and 16-20 ounce vegetable blends (like stirfy or stew) for $1.99. I grabbed what I needed for the week, but also grabbed a couple extra bags for the freezer. For our area this is a pretty good price and they will last a while. I am looking forward to having this stirfry this week from Budget Bytes. I am going to swap the fresh garlic and ginger for powdered though. Someone brought this to work and let me try a bite and I really liked it, so I did spring for a bottle of sesame oil, but it should last me a pretty long while. It's very similar to the stirfry I made last week, but honestly was better. Give it a try!
Are you making any changes to the way you shop? You know, besides cutting back on eggs? Ours were still almost $5 for a dozen eggs. I miss eggs. I would love to hear any tips you have to share!
