Here is the list of all the wonderful food we were given this week from the food pantry plus how I plan to use it. Last week I was in panic mode and didn't use enough of my brain to make a good plan, but I'm definitely going to do better this week. The kids will have access to the library snacks, and have a cheese stick and juice box every night before bed. The cheese is shelf stable, so it won't melt, so I am missing cheese, but the kids think the snack before bed is fantastic. The library also gives a little craft with the snacks so we are enjoying that too. I have to say, this library thing is making this time in our life so much easier and the kids think it's awesome about all the snacking that we didn't do before. I really have to figure out what to do with this Wow butter, does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe I'll stir some into my ramen.
From the library we got the same kinds of snack foods. Exactly the same actually, so that is easy enough. All of the items are shelf stable and came packed up like meals in plastic bags. Each pack contained:
- Boxed 1% milk and shelf stable cheese product sticks
- Jerky or Soy (Wow) butter (I assume they gave us this instead of peanut butter because alergies)
- Craisins or apple sauce pack
- Crackers or a little bag of tortilla chips and a little packet of salsa
- 100% juice box
From the food pantry we got:
- 2 cans of mixed vegetables, 2 cans of corn, 1 can of Rotel diced tomatoes with chilis
- 2 cans of chicken noodle soup
- 1 box pancake mix and bottle of syrup
- 1 can of crushed pineapple, 1 can of pears
- 2 boxes of macaroni and cheese
- 2 cans tuna
- 1 jar of peanut butter
- 1 pound bag of rice
From the store I got:
- eggs
- oatmeal
- ketchup (I have one kid who just really needs ketchup)
- onions, cucumbers (the cucumbers are on sale for 50 cents!)
- Ramen
- bologna, hot dogs
- Bread, crackers
- Can of white beans, 1 can tomato paste
- Bag of potatoes
- 1 bag black beans
- 1 box of brownies -planned a visit to my mom, she's making dinner, we're bringing dessert. Definitely a strategic maneuver
