I am reposting a post from 2/14/22 about Pork Butt Roast as they are the only meat on sale this week and that is what I will be using for our main meat this week. It is a long, slow cook, but at least I only have to cook the meat once! Please follow the link here if you are at all interested in learning how to use such an economical cut of pork. This blog can explain how to cook and use the pork butt roast so much better than I can.
Hope you all have a great week!
Not much on sale really this week. Something new that I haven't
tried but is in my price range is Pork Butt. Pork Butt, which doesn't
actually come from the back of the pig haha, is only $1.29 a pound this
week and you buy it in a big hunk. So I bought one and did some digging
and came up with a great tutorial here from the blog I Can't Believe It's Low Carb.
They did a really good job of explaining the cut and all the different
ways to cook it. They give you several spice combinations to choose from
and explain different cooking methods like using the oven, slow cooker
or instant pot. They even give you ideas of what to serve with it and
what to look for when shopping for a pork butt! They have explained
everything there is to know about the subject., please go check it out!
After reading through their post about the pork butt, I feel completely
confident I am going to make something delicious and am not intimidated
at all.
From the bloggers:
Pork butt roast is a tougher cut of meat but when cooked long and slow the tissues break down and the meat becomes very tender, which makes it one of the most flavorful and delicious types of pork. The fattier the better.
I plan to make the pork butt Monday since low and slow is the way to go. I'll season it and chuck it in the slow cooker for 7 hours on low. Doesn't get any easier! We are going to eat it sliced the first night, then as pulled pork mixed with bbq the next. Yay!
