Meal Planning Monday and a Big Batch of Chili

So this week, the only deal I could find on meat was hamburger, which lead me to my big batch for the week, chili! We really like chili, I eat crackers with mine, but my husband grew up eating peanut butter sandwiches with it, so my kids did too! That is fine by me, an inexpensive source of protein in the peanut butter ups the belly filling factor of our meal.

Our Kroger sales always start on Wednesdays, and I am excited for this weeks ad. They have 10 pound bags of potatoes for $1.99! That is 20 cents per pound! Cheaper than pasta and rice, we will be eating a lot of potatoes next week. Luckily you can do a lot of things with potatoes!

Another thing that I have been working on in the back of my mind is Thanksgiving. This year we are having our little family plus an older guest. I was really starting to get nervous about turkey prices, but also in next week's Kroger ad they are finally advertising turkey on sale for 49 cents a pound with a $25 purchase! Whew! I had a back up plan though. If I wasn't able to get a turkey, we were still going to do traditional Thanksgiving sides with roasted chicken for the main. Later in the week I am going to do a post about Thanksgiving options, some traditional some not so much!
